Pr Marielle Bouyou Akotet is a Professor of Parasitology Mycology and Tropical Medicine at the Université des Sciences de la Santé (USS) in Libreville, Gabon where she is senior lecturer and the head of the Department of Parasitology Mycology and Tropical Medicine (DPMMT).

Dr. Lucas N. Amenga-Etego is a Research Fellow at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP), Department of Biochemistry Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Ghana. His background is in microbiology and genetic/genomic epidemiology of malaria. His research interest is in infectious diseases with specific focus on the genetic contribution to malaria disease susceptibility (or resistance). He has been a Research Fellow and head of the Biomedical Science Department at the Navrongo Health Research Centre, Ghana from June 2013 until January 2018.

undergraduate through postgraduate levels, earning a PhD degree. He studied serum cytokine levels in pregnant women at Masters level and the pathophysiology of malaria infection in three Cameroonian ethnic groups at doctoral level. He has also obtained at master’s degree in Plant Genetic Manipulation from the University of Nottingham, UK where he worked to introduce the isopentenyltransferase (ipt) gene for delayed leaf senescence into commercial cultivars of lettuce, Lactuca sativa cv. Saladin.

Dr Jaishree Raman’s interest in antimalarial drug resistance malaria was sparked when she joined the Malaria Research Unit of the South African Medical Research (SAMRC) after completing her post-doctoral research fellowship in Sweden in 2004. During her 10-year tenure at the SAMRC, Jaishree was instrumental in establishing a high through-put PCR-based molecular surveillance laboratory.
