Graduate Intern

Graduate Interns are drawn internally from the DELGEME Plus partners groups, PDNA and other collaborators groups/labs.
Each Principal Investigator or Lab chief will be responsible for selecting the prospective Interns.
The process for that selection will be documented and forwarded to the
Executive Board.

Master in AMR

DELGEME Plus has initiated a new MSc in Antimicrobial Resistance surveillance and Antimicrobial stewardship for 2 years, to be accredited it at USTTB.
Master students will enroll in relevant training programs at Partner and Collaborating African Institutions.
Each student will have at least two supervisors: one from the home institution and one from the University of registration.

Our PhD students fellows will take mandatory specific lectures during the 2nd and 3rd semester of the MSc programme,
which is when the AMR specific topics will be taught.
These lectures will give the adequate AMR scientific baseline to all PhD and Post-Docs before they start their specific
research projects.

Aspiring Leaders

Aspiring Leaders are mid-career scientists that have already their own labs, a small team and started
to win their own research support.
As we did in DELGEME they will receive funding that allow them to be paired with a renown scientist who will be their mentor and coach them for their leadership development.

Word from the director

The Developing Excellence in Leadership and Genomics Training for Malaria Elimination and Antimicrobial Resistance Control in Africa (DELGEME Plus) program is a consortium of leading researchers from sub-Saharan Africa in the perspective of applying genomics, epidemiology and Bioinformatics to understand the dynamics of transmission as well as the mechanisms and response to chemo-therapeutic interventions aimed at malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and bacterial infections, including those related to animal health and production.
The DELGEME Plus program is committed to training, under the banner of the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB) and in collaboration with several other partner universities and institutions in Africa, high-level scientists, to carry out state of the art research on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and to collaborate with health decision-makers and African communities in conducting research to produce locally relevant knowledge for malaria elimination and control of AMR.

To do this, one of the first Master’s programs in AMR in Africa, accredited by the USTTB, was launched. We are also recruiting interns, PhDs, Post-Doctoral students, who will be trained in Africa, and we are offering fellowship for aspiring leaders as well as senior researchers’ level.
The program aims, beyond training, to be:

  • a collaboration platform between local and international experts,
  • a unique opportunity to build a strong network between committed professionals,
  • a promise of sustainable transformation, for our respective communities.
