Dr Eniyou Cheryll Oriero started her research career after obtaining a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Biochemistry. She worked briefly on tissue culture, genetic transformation and molecular characterization of food crops before switching to Medical Research when she joined the Malaria research group at the Medical Research Council Unit in The Gambia. She obtained a PhD from the University of Antwerp, Belgium and is currently a Postdoctoral scientist working on population genomics of non-falciparum malaria parasites and genomic surveillance of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa.
