Bio :

Judith Torimiro holds a PhD Degree and an MSc Degree in Applied Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom. Previously, she obtained an MSc Degree in Chemical Pathology from the University of Ibadan, and a BSc Degree in Chemistry from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She pursued her post-doctoral training in molecular epidemiology of HIV, HBV, HCV and human genes at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and other institutions in the USA. She is Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Coordinator of the Postgraduate School Unit for Health and Environmental Sciences, University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon. She is the Laboratory Director at the Chantal Biya International Reference Centre for AIDS Research (CIRCB) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. She serves as Board Chair of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board (CBCHS), the second institution providing healthcare in Cameroon. Her scientific and managerial skills and competencies bring her to international recognition from the World Health Organization that bestowed on her the 2019 Sasakawa Health Prize, the Commonwealth Secretariat for Women’s Health for her work on sexually transmitted infections among pregnant women. She currently leads a network in Africa called MICHep B, to promote the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B. Judith participates in mentoring and coaching activities of young women scientists involved in health research in Cameroon since 2015 through the Higher Institute for Growth of women in Health Research (HIGHER) where she is the Vice President.
