DELGEME 2nd Proposal development workshop
DELGEME continues its development of its activities by focusing its actions first and foremost on the capacity building of the new PhDs, Post-PhDs, and Aspiring leaders who constitute our priority target.
It was in this perspective that a research project development workshop was organized for new DELGEME PhD and post-doctoral fellows and aspiring leaders. It took place from April 30 to May 30, 2018, in Bamako, Mali, at DELGEME premises.
The workshop was chaired by Pr. Ogobara Doumbo, Director of the MRTC, and facilitated by the Program Director, Professor Abdoulaye DJIMDE, around the participants’ research projects. He addressed his words of welcome to the participants. This introduction was followed by the oral presentations of the DELGEME Fellows. About 30 scientists from different institutions of higher learning and research from Mali, The Gambia, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, Gabon, Spain, and Côte d’Ivoire participated in this training.
This workshop aimed at the following objectives:
- Learners of the DELGEME project review the respective proposals and ensure that they are of the highest quality and in line with their vision and,
- Improve the quality of research proposals submitted by DELGEME PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and aspiring leaders.
Specific objectives:
- Review each PhD proposal and provide feedback.
- Review each Post-Doc project and provide feedback.
- Review each Aspiring leaders’ training plan and provide feedback.
Methods: The fellows presented in detail their PowerPoint proposals of 25-30 minutes. This was followed by questions and answers, as well as comments to consider. A second presentation was made to ensure that comments were incorporated.
Individual meetings were organized between trainers and fellows to discuss specific issues.
The training workshop provided the new fellows with a methodology adapted to the scientific environment to project themselves into the future. At the end of the workshop, the fellows were able to successfully train and implement their research projects and discuss with the trainers.
This workshop ended with a presentation of testimonials to the participants. They took the opportunity to visit DELGEME premises.
We wish the participants a safe return to their homes and a great success in the continuation of their work.
