DELGEME Financial Training
Context
As part of the program activities, DELGEME organized a training for its finance officers from January 22nd to January 24th, 2019, in Bamako, Mali.
Participants came from six African countries: Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Ghana, Gambia, Kenya, and Mali, for this three-day training.
The purpose of this training was to review:
- Grant conditions,
- The role of the Mali Service Center,
- The financial management of DELTAS,
- Financial reporting, and
- Administrative and financial management procedures of the program.
The training aimed to share necessary documents for implementing the program’s financial report, administrative and financial management procedures, and provide an overview of the internal audit carried out by AESA the previous year. The event also served as an opportunity to review the overall financial report.
The main facilitators were:

- Emmah Ndiarangu, Financial Officer of AESA
- Patrick Atandi, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager of AESA
- Boubakar Kodio, Manager of DELGEME
- Salif Touré, Finance Manager of DELGEME
Workshop participants included program Hub managers, representatives of partner institutions, their finance managers, and the program’s staff.
Course of the Activity
Prof. Abdoulaye Djimdé, Director of DELGEME, began the training by welcoming participants and summarizing the terms of reference for the training.
The AESA Finance Officer and DELGEME Manager delivered presentations to enhance understanding of the administrative and financial management of the project. All presentations were conducted in a participatory manner to maximize participant engagement.
At the end of each presentation, Question-and-Answer sessions were held to ensure better comprehension of the content.
Conclusion
Overall, the training met the participants’ expectations. Their concerns were addressed satisfactorily, and the Hubs actively participated. The knowledge shared, the honesty of the exchanges, and the content of the training were considered highly valuable.
Recommendations were made to the various Hubs of the project.
