DELGEME’s participation at the 1st congress of African Association for Research and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance February 26-28 at the Hôtel Laico Amitié Bamako, Mali.
Scientists from Africa and the rest of the world gathered in Bamako (Mali) from 26 to 28 February 2018 at the Laico Amitié Hotel in Bamako for the 1st Congress of the African Association for Research and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance “AAAMR”.
This event brought together for three days the leading researchers in the fields of parasitology and mycology, Bacteriology, and other fields from 14 countries: Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia as part of the 1st congress: Antimicrobial resistance: which challenges for Africa?
A first in Mali, and during these 3 days, several visits were made to the DELGEME stand, which we can mention, among others, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Assetou Founé Samaké Migan and the Minister of Public Health Prof. Samba Sow. The participation of DELGEME in this congress has made it possible to update political decision makers, the media, and congress participants by the voice of its Director Professor Abdoulaye Djimdé, who is also the president of the Association.
AAAMR now has about twenty African, English, French, and Portuguese-speaking countries.
That’s why the opening ceremony was honored by the presence and participation of internationally renowned researchers including:
- Prof. Mireille Dosso, Director of the Pasteur Institute of Côte d’Ivoire,
- Prof. Philip Rosenthal, Editor-in-Chief and Journal Editor of the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (AJTMH).
- Prof. Ogobara Doumbo, Director of Malaria Research and Training Center (MRTC)
- Prof. Coumba Kane Toure, High Polytechnic School at Dakar University and 2nd Vice President of AARAM,
- Prof. Satigui Sidibé, Head of Diagnostic and Research Unit.
Other teachers and prescribers also took part, including:
- Professors Aly Guindo, Brehima KOUMARE, Hamar A. TRAORE.
The opening ceremony ended with the awarding of prizes to the prize-winner of the Institut Pasteur young researchers prize worth 10,000 Euros, which will allow her to pursue her research for the same cause.
This prize was awarded by Institut Merieux, France and presented to Dr. Djeneba Bocar Fofana.
