Lucas Amenga-Etego
Description
Dr. Lucas N. Amenga-Etego is a Research Fellow at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP), Department of Biochemistry Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Ghana. His background is in microbiology and genetic/genomic epidemiology of malaria. His research interest is in infectious diseases with specific focus on the genetic contribution to malaria disease susceptibility (or resistance). He has been a Research Fellow and head of the Biomedical Science Department at the Navrongo Health Research Centre, Ghana from June 2013 until January 2018. He collaborates with colleagues from the Big Data Centre, University of Oxford and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in the UK to conduct studies into the genetic diversity and population structure of natural Plasmodium falciparum populations in northern Ghana. He is also a founding member of the Plasmodium Diversity of Network Africa (PDNA).
